practice for "painted batting free project"

Because today I've got the opportunity to translate for my quilting group friends one of the free project from the "3CreativeStudios"- and I'm refering about the January technique : Painted Batting - I thought it would be great to put in practice what I read.
Practice means experience ! more practice-more experience....but today I stay close to the first part of this principle to which I add  : "experience is gathered from mistakes, too !" ;))

So : needed materials : batting, a few paints, brushes, nylon cover for protection, water spray.

and because I was in such an excited hurry, I started with a mistake that I will carry on till end and will discover just at finish !!!
I forgot to fuse the batting to a cotton fabric to give it some firmness....instead, I taped it to the table...worked but not as charmed....

I started to spray a thin layer of water over the battings. Yes, there are two pieces of batting : the biggest one is 100% synthetic - our unique and "holly" batting from Romania with which we are struggling to make our best creations - and the smallest piece is a cotton (!!!)  sample of wadding that I received.

then I took out all my paints that I have....not all I have on hand, but ALL I HAVE. :)) Too few, I know, and none of those precious brands used in the project named-before...we do not have such beauties here ! well, everyone use what has in stash, isn't ?

si am inceput. ..joaca.

and I start to ...play. First of all, on the cotton piece. Which took the colour like magic.
I was a little scared that I'll run out of my precious paint stash to quickly :)))...

Pai, da, ca in orice sta o mica smecherie ;).

Then I passed onto the synthetic one. Which...hmmm....skin itself, or peel itself or you named it, it was a pain in my.. heart  ;) untill I discover the trick. yep! in everything dwells a small trick. ;)

For the next image : -please, don't shoot the "artist"  :)))) !... I was in need of colour...

and here's the trick : do you see that thin blue line in the middle ? the one without contour , shape ? well, that is a pure undiluted paint line....

and if you dip the brush in water and pass over the line again....voila ! it takes shape, it sinks in the batting, it comes alive !!then you need just to play with de neighbouring, letting the colours to blend between, to become other colours or you can ovelap them... just for fun.

"In graba mare " sau... "Unde au fugit neutronii ??" :)))

and at some point this was the great mess ....
how should I name it ? "In great hurry" or "Where does the neutrons ran? " :)))

Then I realized that in all that fun with the big piece of batting I totally forgot about that precious square of cotton batting....so I quickly added some lilac puff-paint pearls....

that looks quite good in that moment :) ....but later not.

And because a new experience isn't complete without a small surprise : when I lift the batting from the nylon protection sheet I discover that :
1. I forgot, from the very begining, to termo-fuse the batting to a cotton cloth
and
2. more than 1/3 of paint was resting on my nylon cover, passing shameless through the batting.

Speranta moare ultima....

So I took a white cotton cloth and put it on those stains hoping that I'll get some usefull artistic painted piece for a small future project. Hope dies last....

But no ! those paints have their own life . They do not want to stay on my white cloth . LOL.

A tissue-paper and some alcohol made the board clean in a second. Everything is clean as in the beginning, I could start over again....but not today, perhaps tomorrow.

Until tomorrow this piece is going to dry over night. After that we'll see what happens further more....

I hope that I opened your appetite for brush paint-playing. ;).

hello, my name is Berry

Hello, my name is Berry and I'm the softest little bear on the world. But , let's not talk about me ;)
Look what I've got here :

este atit de moale....
is it so soft ...

I could even sleep and dream on it...

and if an accident happens to a little bear, like me ,during the night, it can be washed, you know ;)

Somn usor !
Sleep tight !

Berrys' story could go on for ever and ever because the most beautifull stories are childhood ones....then follows another period when childhood stories becomes love stories....

delicate, azurii, fine...romantice.

finesse, soft blue...romantic.

                                                              Ce frumoase sunt visele....

                                                                 Dreaming is nice....

ribbons and laces

I always have a fling for laces...and ribbons....and pink... and light blue....I often dream at a small white house, filled with roses and blue pillows....and tons and tons of white lace ribbons.... it hit me that ,until then, I can "practice" in real life all of these...all of them....first I made some soft and fluffy pouches for my new friends : Beverley,Ann and Alice. Hope they will remember me every time when will touch these...

then I want to continue with that light blue but the checked fabric is finished...so I changed on stripes.Different light blue stripes...same lace.Same ribbon. I'm constant in my dreams, you know...

then something happened. I suddenly needed some...colour. A bit of. So I grab some cream fabric...with just a hint of green....but I feel hunger for more colour and then I insert a hot red poppy panel . Follow an unexpected change : cream lace. Just as my grandmother used in her youth....yep, still soft but , sincerely, was a little too much colour for my... dreams.

so, at the sunset I feel the need of vintage perfume...lazy flavour of some dusty roses....on some real vintage cotton. Same fluffiness, same lace-ness, same ....ness. T.-ness.

 ...oh, and I forgot : I love white angels, too . :)

tutorial : decoupage on textile fabric

I still promised a tutorial for decoupage on textile ( fabric) technique....and as outside is a miserable weather - snowing, raining and sad, I take this opportunity to show you some pictures along the process .

- lacul final .

First of all you'll need :
- a sheet of glass to work on, be aware this technique is..."mushy",
-a painter brush - 12, 14 or 16 mm,
- a square of fabric, I use white muslin,
- a tissue paper with central motif or any other as you like,
- the special glue for this technique , FOR TEXTILE,
- the final varnish - water-based.

Starting with setting the muslin on the glass sheet, aply with the brush a thin layer of the special glue on the surface of fabric. Be stingy with this glue, its incredible consuming! but don't try to jump this step thinking that you'll put more on the next one because....it won't work! I've already tried it ! ;)

Loosen those 3 layers of tissue paper - you'll use only the printed one....the other two you'll use for cleaning your fingers from glue, I assure you ! LOL.

Put the printed layer - face up -  on the muslin very quickly, so that the glue doesn't get dry...spread it CAREFULLY with your hand all over the surface to make a full contact with the glue and the muslin. It's a MUST ! ( or you can approach the step-by-step technique , trying to neat the napkin with a plastic bag, portion by portion )

starting by aplying the glue with the brush on the napkin surface , from center to edge, extremely carefully ....now you'll see if your tissue is a quality one or not. Those poor quality ones are very breakable starting with the second brush...irretrievably. Better throw them to the trash then consuming that precious glue on them.... You must use a very soft brush and soft movements for this step.

cind spuneam cu mare-mare grija ma refeream la faptul ca pot sa apara aceste dungi ( in coltul stinga jos ) care in functie de cit de "brute" sunt pot sa arate urit sau ....shabby-chic. :). Ale mele sunt chic, nu-i asa ? :)

When I said : extremely care, I mean that there can appear some streaks ( in the left down corner) which depending on how brute they are , could be ugly or...shabby-chic. Mines are chic, isn't it ? :)

You should have great attention on the edges of the tissue paper. This become wavy - under the glue - and this means that you have to pass with the glue again over them and a little bit on the muslin, too. More intake is better for a final better fastening.

After you get enough of stress for not breaking the tissue paper and for every bit of it to be covered with glue, put them to dry. I choose to clip them on metal hangers over my warm stove, this way they are ready in 20 minutes. Otherwise at room temperature it may take over night to get them proper dry.

And because you're not finished with them yet, you'll need to pass to the next stage : fixing them with heat. Put the square WITH THE FACE DOWN on your ironing board and pass the iron over it several times. Peel them carefully off of your ironing board and to the next step : applying the final varnish layer. This makes it waterproof so you can wash it , by hand if needed. This is the varnish  - water-based :

Put hem AGAIN to dry and after again to ironing. Yep! I know....a lot of work. But it worth it !
And also I give you an advice : is better to close tight the bottle of glue with a plastic bag and a gum and just after to close the cap. Because otherway the content became a chewy "thing" impossible to spread with the brush or to take out of the bottle. It happened to me and I'm still sorry for that losted glue....

ceva de genul ....

and because I use so much time and so many materials, I must get something at the end , no ?
something like this .... gifts for my friends. ;)

I hope this will be usefull for you...for any questions I wait a comment below or a privat mail. I'd looove to see your works in this technique....you could send me some photos if you want ;).
Wish you a wonderful day !
P.S. By the way : the glue that doesn't come off your fingers with those left layers of tissue paper will come off later ...just peel it  :)))
