Another face of a sweet memory.
Cum afara este o canicula in toata puterea cuvintului ma ascund in fotoliu si cos...toata ziua. Am o fata de perna, cu multa dantela, mostenita de la bunica mea, veche-veche , atit de veche incit , chiar daca o tineam in cutia cu amintiri dragi, a devenit fragila pe alocuri si se rupe. Vroiam sa pastrez cumva amintirea bunicii si totodata sa imi las amprenta pe ea in vreun fel...asa incit am ales cea mai buna bucata din ea, am facut-o sandwich si am inceput sa quiltuiesc manual. Nu e o idee buna ?

As outside is an extremely hot weather, I just hide myself in my favorite armchair and I sew... all the day. I have an old pillow cover from my grandmother, which is so old that even kept in my memories box, it began to ripe all over. I would like to keep over time this sweet memory some way and also to put my fingerprint on it..so, I choose to cut out the best part of it, make a sandwich of and began hand quilting... Isn't it a good ideea??




Inca nu e gata... si va ramine doar ce se vede in poza, deci un bloc micut aprox. 15" x 15"... Din cauza tensionarii materialul sufera...ma gindesc sa adaug cumva la bordura dantela crosetata manual care facea parte din vechea fata de perna.... vom vedea rezultatul...
It's not ready yet...it will remain what you see in the picture, just a small block,aprox: 15" x 15". Due to the tensioning, the fabric is really suffering. I'm thinking to add somehow in the border a part of the hand-made lace that belong to the old pillow cover...we'll se the result...

another table runner : PLUM

Zilele trecute am terminat un nou table runner. Cu un aer de antichitate, m-a cucerit cu totul...In ultimul timp tot ce termin imi place la nebunie...dar viata isi spune cuvintul si l-am scos la vinzare.
Last days I finished this new table runner. With an antique-ish look, I felt in love with it....Lately I'm in love with all I finish....but life has its tribute so I put it on sale.

Unicat. Dimensiuni : 22 inch x 47 inch ( aprox. 56 cm X 121 cm) Fata : bumbac, umplutura : bumbac, spatele flanel alb. Cusut cu masina, quiltuit cu masina.

Unique. Dimensions : 22" x 47 "( aprox. 56 cm x 121 cm). Top:cotton, batting:cotton, back in white flanel. Machine pieced, machine quilted.

Pentru ca in saptamina aceasta am vopsit citeva bucatele de material, in 3 culori : turcoaz, magenta si verde, azi s-a nascut dintr-o bucatica din acestea un "obiect" nou :
Because last week I dyed some pieces of fabrics in 3 colours : turcoise, magenta and green, today was born , from a piece of those ,a new..."thing" :
Un pic din tehnica "umbrei" amestecata cu tehnica lui Bonnie McCaffery la care am adaugat frunze ucate de macris si de Poinsettia, fire metalice, bucatele de material lucios si alte maruntisuri.
A little shadow technique and a little Bonnie McCaffery technique then adding some dried leveas of oxalis and poinsettia, metalic threads, scraps of shiny fabric and other stuff.

a new table-runner

Un alt table runner s-a nascut...culori "asezate", cuminti, tocmai bune de pus pe o mobila veche...Spatele este din finet alb, ca sa nu alunece pe masa. Dimensiuni : 1,05m x 0,61 m ( 41 inch x 24 inch)
Another table-runner is born...quiet colours, just good to be set on an old furniture...The backing is of white flannel, just good not to slipp on the table. Dimensions: 1,05m x 0,61 m ( 41" x 24" )

Poza nu e tare grozava , scuze... a fost facuta in mijlocul noptii...se pare ca e ora potrivita de a-mi termina lucrarile...liniste, stele pe cer si doar gindurile mele....

pentru prietenii nostri

Pentru ca prietenii ( finii ) nostri implinesc doi ani de la casatorie si totodata pentru ca sunt departe de casa, le-am facut un cadou care sa-i "tina" impreuna ;))
Se spune ca intr-o casatorie trebuie sa inveti sa imparti totul cu jumatatea ta, ei bine quiltul are dimensiunea de 1,50m x 2,0 m (cit pentru o persoana). Asa ca vor trebui sa il imparta sau sa doarma imbratisati sub el...o idee buna, nu ? .


Because our friend are celebrating 2 years of marriage and also because they are far away from home, we made a gift that should "hold" them together ;)).
It says that in marriage you must learn to share everything with your half, well...this quilt has 1,50m x 2,0 m ( as for 1 person). They must share it or sleep hugged under it....a good ideea, isn't it ?

Azi am primit plicul de la Janine ( Franta)...o surpriza neasteptata ma astepta in interiorul lui! pe linga cele 2 ATC-uri , care sunt niste minunatii atit de fine si de delicate, lucrate superb, m-a cadorisit cu bucati de materiale, margelute si dantele. " "Pentru viitoarele mele lucrari" spune Janine. Multumesc mult de tot , Janine, esti o draguta !
Today I received the envelope from Janine - France...un unexpected surprise was inside!! beside the 2 ATCs - which are marvelouse, so delicate and great worked, I was gifted with pieces of nice fabrics, beads, laces..." For my future work" says Janine... Thank you so much, Janine, you are a sweet !

ATC-urile ...sunt magnifice! cea din stinga apartine seriei "Rosu si Negru" iar cea din dreapta seriei "Cuivre" . Imi plac amindoua...cita finete a lucrarii! hmmm...trebuie "copiate" atit tehnica cit si maiestria :))) Complimentele mele , Janine!
Tthe ATCs ...they are magnificent! the left one is belonging to the "Red and Black" series and the right one is from "Cuivre" series . I love both of them...such a delicate work ! hmmm...it must be "copied" both the technique and the craftmanship . ;))) .

Caveman techniques of Ricky Timms

Azi am urmarit pe HGTV tehnica lui Ricky Tims - "Caveman rotary cutting" si cum era o duminica prea calduroasa pentru a face orice altceva, am pus-o in practica. Sunt doar top-urile, miine urmeaza sa le quiltuiesc si probabil sa le "embelishez"... oricum, ACESTEA sunt primele mele CURBE taiate si cusute de cind fac patchwork. Sper sa-mi imbunatatesc tehnica... adica sa tranzitez de la pestera la ...secolul 21! ;))
Today I watched on HGTV the Ricky Timms technique " Caveman rotary cutting" and as it was an too awfully hot afternoon to do anything else...I put it in practice. Here you see just the tops, tomorrow these will be quilted and perhaps embelished... Anyway THESE are my very first CURVES cut and pieced since I do patchwork. I really hope to improve my technique...I mean to transit from cave level to 21 century ;))

Pentru ca seceta e mare am intins o plasa peste toata gradina, in speranta ca plantele vor avea parte de putina umbra... intrarea in gradina :
Because we suffer of an excessive drought I spread an huge net over the garden hoping that this way the plants will enjoy some shadow...the entrance in the garden:

I hope for a soon healthy rain...otherwise all the work untill now will be in vain....

Pillow for Patrazel

Pentru ca Patrazel nu avea o pernita asortata i-am croit una pe masura ;)). Exercitiu de " incalzire" pentru quiltuire ;))
Because Patrazel didn't have an assorted pillow beside it I made one quickly as an warming exercise for quilting...;))

Hunter Star table runner

Stiti ce se intimpla cind uiti de o zi de nastere importanta ? si cind aceasta e chiar a doua zi ?? ei bine....te apuci de lucru! ;)). Am inceput ieri seara, dupa instructiunile extrem de concise oferite de Geta pe site-ul ei -la blocul lunii aprilie : Hunter Star - si dupa ce am lucrat ca nebuna timp de 10 ore, azi am finalizat aceasta fata de masa...
Do you know what happens when you completely forgot an important birthday? and when this is just next day? well...you start to work!;)) I begin las evening, following the concise explanations of Geta on her site - at April block : Hunter Star - and after 10 hours like crazy working...today I finished this table runner.

Sper sa fie incintata de cadou...si sper sa nu uit sa-i fac poze mai tirziu dupa-masa!!
